For this weeks edition I was dared to write second life themed poems based on words that were not connected to each other in any way. LOL. Try to apply these poems to your second life experiences and tell me in comments how they might fit you!
sexy – vase – sword
The highlight of your day was as quiet as a sword hitting metal, making everyone around you LookAt you. are? Sexy. The conventional use of your privacy, you knew who looked at you and you met their gaze and much like in a daze, you grabbed a vase and you threw it at them. because fuck them. they wanted to know information you didn’t want to share and kindness is never met on the same level anyway it’s easier to just be mean to begin with
pixel – helpful – fine
The steel of your problematic knife, gracing over my pixelated skin it broke my heart ever so slightly after your swing, your unhelpful, mean words and your deformed smile nothing you said came out right not since that fight. not since you were no longer mine and I could no longer say I was fine.
This is an un-in depth photography guide of an amateur photographer (me).
In case that almost made you click away, please don’t, I’m actually going to give many of you some insight to Second Life photography right now. I’ve been a member of the grid for almost 3 years, and the moment I learned about camera angles I immediately thought of photography. In this guide I will explain what is important when you want to do photography in Second Life, how to achieve those things and what helped me understand and learn on my own.
Now, none of us start out “great” at this. The very first photos I took looked quite… sad. But as I took them I thought “Oh wow! That’s so nice!” So how do I know my work isn’t bad now? Eh, I don’t. Not really.
My computer specs allow me to play the game on occasion with Ultra graphics and other nifty settings, but if yours go to max High, that’s no problem. Notice I am using Firestorm Viewer for my photos.
Above is my photography check list. Lets go over them, shall we?
The one key component to a good picture lays in actually what you are wearing. I’m not a designer, but I believe I have good eye to colours and models and types of clothes that go together. I for one, know that you should always wear socks with crocs, and pants pulled to your armpits look sexy. Now that you know my talent, please choose to take time before your photoshoot to build an outfit – use colors that work well with each other, use hair that will fit the poses you plan to use etc. The closer your shot (portrait etc), the more detail and effort you have to put to that area – usually the face.
Ahh, our best friends! Well not quite. Poses are like the people you invite to the wedding because your partner wanted them to show up and look pretty. You need them, you want them, but no one gives credit to them.
I personally keep all my quality poses within my Firestorm AO, which makes photoshoots in different locations much easier. I have them loaded to my crouch animations, and when I crouch (C) it automatically puts me in a pose. Another working way is to load your poses to a dance hud – this was how I had my friends pose if I didn’t know any better.
Looking for good poses and animations? 】FOXCITY (178, 64, 22) – General 】. MILA . under construction , Moodle (146, 77, 2800) – Moderate 】La Baguette (no landmark for them, sorry :P)
The most annoying and headache causing part for some. I will not go too in-depth with this, because really finding the right settings is different for everyone and requires experimentation. Hitting (Ctrl+P) will open your firestorm settings. After that navigate to Graphics and go as high as your computer can handle… good luck.
What is the purpose of your photo shoot? is it for relaxation, or maybe for a rp campaign? Is it just for a new profile picture or for the sake of boredom? Knowing the answer to this will help you choose a location!
Many places are good for photography – even more are bad. When planning a session, take into consideration that high quality mesh tends to look a lot better than the default linden labs sky. Sim hop, find locations that tickle your fancy – or perhaps check out my photography highlights – blogs where I talk about ultimately the best locations to take photos in!
Now that we’ve crossed our checklist, lets go! Teleporting into the location is the easy part. Now look for a pretty background spot, cuss as you crash from the amount of particles with your high settings, then call your best friend and whine about SL for a while. Now we’re good? Good. We have the scene, we know we want to take photos for fun, but uh, the problem is that the pic doesn’t really look that good… Lets uh, change the windlight?
Okay the two are improvement, but uh, we want more! So lets add a filter …
Hmm. S0mething is still missing. Oh the angle! Okay. Pressing Ctrl+8/9/0 to get further and closer to myself…
Cool. Looks pretty creepy and halloweeny!
Maybe you learned something new, maybe you know your ways to be better and didn’t like my ideas at all. Whatever the case, I have more creepy halloween photos for myself now – and it’s only June.
Hey folks, sorry for last week’s hiatus! You know how RL gets in the way of things, so I won’t bore you with any tedious details.
So let’s begin, huh?
Today I kind of wanted to vent (and discuss) an issue that myself, and many in the newer and free-resident community, are starting to take notice of.
SL has gone under numerous changes since its inception, most of these have provided much needed updates to SL’s central functionality. It is with the most recent planned update, however, that I personally do not see any overall benefit.
I tend to lurk in the forums, watching the discussion about the update fluctuate between unhappy residents and those more blasé . There is a portion of that lattermost personage; with its land-barons and bookkeepers; that seem completely indifferent and unopposed to the potential limitations this update imposes on free-residents. Any threads that posit even the most modest of suggestions for a turnabout that doesn’t impact free-residents so significantly are, almost immediately, getting dogged on by older community members. The white-knighting buckles down with references to“private business”; stating that LL needn’t continue catering to “lesser audiences” who can’t afford the luxuries of premium or in-world marketing/business.
There’s a further refusal to acknowledge the idea of updating many features in SL to match that available on other modern platforms. This of course includes patronizing and aggressively-worded messages to those complaining — all summing up to “shut up and enjoy what you got”.
What’s going on?
We know that SL hosts a very large community of older-generation (boomer & retirees) people who do not necessarily have the same outlook or experience with the limited wages people within the new and free-resident community face. A less affordable SL is protection for senior businesses against any fledgling competition — these financial barriers are good for them, realistically — and those who affirm the update are not necessarily concerned with factors of enjoyment or success beyond that of their own.
What’s wrong with accessibility?
It just leaves me to wonder why any discussion of change that makes the platform more accessible to free-residents and new creators is such a taboo subject? Why can’t we have a more modern UI and UX? Why can’t developers, in-world or Linden, provide practicably afforded avatar materials? Why can’t we downsize unused continents or provide cheaper sim/personal servers like what’s available on other platforms? Why can’t we separate content by ratings, or even land by commercial and non-commercial usage?
Players, users, residents, or whatever you may call them, deserve a more intuitive SL experience. There is no reason SL couldn’t provide things like pricing options for membership, land, and avatar customization that cater realistically to one’s respective budget. There is no harm in suggesting that land be separated and priced to serve between residential or consumer projects. No one is at fault for wanting preferences that separate adult and moderate content and their respective users. And, last time I checked, one of the biggest hopes (from newbie residents in particular) is a user-interface and customization options that are simple and easy-to-use.
Development obviously takes a great amount of time, labour, and resources, and thus it would be outrageous to demand free and immediate change — however, the request for change is neither illegal nor obscene. These are things people want, and they should be allowed to voice their desires for them.
The community could be kinder…
The constant derogation towards questions and suggestions that come from a place of wanting a more modern and intuitive platform is, flat-out, elitism, and does not bolster healthy community discussion. I am surprised by the “git gud or get out” mentality as it is more typical of communities surrounding MTX games. This form of discourse is uncalled for — questions about SL and its market direction deserve kind, moderated, and lay-men responses if we are to educate newcomers and maintain better conversation.
I have never regretted the investments I’ve personally made in SL, but I can fully understand how rising costs and limited interfaces erect a financial and social barrier that impede working-wage users from even basic enjoyment of SL.
There is always going to be users who abandon the Grid, and those who want to stay in SL will, of course… but I cannot fathom why putting off potential free-resident growth would at all be desired. SL provides a service and experience that can’t easily be replaced, and it’s sad to think that the community would promote long-term decline for short-term profits.
Please pray the winds for fresh air
for I am poison
are you aware?
life's not an option
witness my ascension
Apart from all the things that have happened, my flight through the colorful palette of pastels has continued, and with the updated avatars, my muses for poetry have been found – yet this time, within myself. I’ve grown to be able to write my poetry. Above of course a piece I wrote today!
Your desire insatiable
my wallet bottomless
some call me the devil
who can blame them?
Do you have plans for the summer? We do. We’ve been reaching out to creators, perhaps we’ve even reached out to you! Our push towards growth will continue.
Now exciting things happen in the sun-lit season of heat, and I’m no exception this time. I’m moving the end of May, and working a 10-day camp in the middle of June! On top of this, I plan to stay addicted to video games as well as try to study.
I’m hoping that during this season of warmth, we might receive our first brand deals and get to start up on blogging about our favourite things, for you. It’s a learning experience as much as it is a driving force, our one goal and dream in our blog.
In any case, if you want yourself, your friend, your brand or anything you like written about, find out contact information to the side and send us a message in world! You can also find us on discord! Here is a fast travel discord link: https://discord.gg/S7nYBus
I recently bothered to find myself a place to work at, a community to join in a sense. I was delighted to find a place, where I could host, dance and entertain guests all the same. But with visibility comes the fact I want to look good, and with that comes new pictures! I’ve been hopping in and out to try and get good photos of myself, and goddamn it’s hard! Filters, poses, lighting,it’s never good!
Except maybe right now. Right now it’s okay. I present to you, Ailith the doll, a pretty little pastelle thing!
“You know that place between sleep and awake, the place where you can still remember dreaming? That’s where I’ll always love you, that’s where I’ll be waiting”
The Winter Moon was introduced to me by a good friend of mine, dare I say best, Myo. She gave me the landmark and told me I “might wanna check it out.”
My first visit? I was starstruck. I immediately stayed for an hour taking photos. On my next one, I explored the sim. It’s high-quality mesh decorations all have good solo and couple animations, and it doesn’t matter where you look really, it’s beautiful. I’ve taken all my friends there for either photos or just relaxing time, and I’ve spread the landmark I have like plague!
It’s still where I go if I want pretty pinks into my photos. It will be featured in many of my posts in the future, because it’s such a go-to place for pictures.
I’m not always known to give credit where credit is due, I do admit. Not just in my blogs, but also in my real life. Watching this sim be as beautiful as it is, I can’t help but wonder who made it. Who had the skill and thought of bringing to life something so beautiful, executing that idea in such a tremendously breath-taking fashion!
Thank you, for making it possible to seek shelter and beauty in Winter Moon.

Name: Ailith Owner: None (yet) 😉 Location: Wherever it is beautiful, that is where she will be found. Although she warns you, sometimes beauty is on the inside.
My first thought on the sim was “winter wonderland” as we arrived to take photos. My model Aven however saw it fit to call it “actual heaven”. Which in my opinion, is quite a compliment. Everything is in whites, pastels and beautifully magical glow.
For photography, I have visited The Outer Garden three times. Each time I have been blessed with absolutely gorgeous photos of my friends. Above are shots of what you can find on the sim. Every object has multiple poses, couple and solo, well placed and with their gorgeous backgrounds and environments. Come to think of it, I wasn’t able to get a “bad” picture from their sim. Sure, it can get laggy, due to complex ground objects and constant lights.
In 2017 I met a dog called Avery on second life. He was playful, cute and overall adorable. The same year I became his owner.
Then I was gone for a year.
My wings will stay wrapped around you.
As bad as it feels to say that, we all take breaks from Second Life. I only recently came back, and with my empty friends list, only a selected few I allowed to stay there while I was gone. Avery was one of them. Now he is known as Aven – a name I chose him, for that matter.
Today I messaged him when I saw him pop online and, to my surprise, he was up for hanging out. After an exchange in what was going on, my eyes landed on the NS controller on his back. He’s an android too?! Ohmygaaaawd!
“Who owns you?! No one?! Mind if I just claim you for myself again kthx!” He just laughed and handed me the controls again. From this day forward you shall have me until we mutually decide it no longer.
It feels good to have him back.

And from this day forth, you shall have me, Aven, until we mutually decide it no longer.
For reasons this post is not going up on the day of writing. Sawwy!
I go by many names on SL; Prismatic, Raucous, Aero, Kirin, Helix.… Whatever name you find me under, or whatever form I take, know that I’m open to the casual and leisurely of conversation and exploration.
What’s up everybody?
I’m the second-writer to this blog. I’m a novice in terms of the SL landscape, having only about 2-years of experience under my belt — nonetheless it is my hope to share with you beautiful people (whomever you may be) my passion for fashion and marvelous misadventures through the virtual world.
I’m a dirty memer, and don’t find myself taking things too seriously in my forays around the grid. I inhabit a variety of appearances that suit my general mood, but you’ll more likely find me gallivanting in humanoid guise. My penchants include gacha, knick-knacks, gestures, events, and fashion — and I’ve also recently taken on photo-editing as a hobby.
“I think dogs should vote!”
The Boy Mayor of Second Life
My real-life as a student is rather dry, but I’ve double majored in ENG/FRN and am now pursuing a Fine Arts degree. I also have a boyfriend and a minor career in freelance, digital illustration. I love cats, pastels, and vintage aesthetics.
My posts should appear Thursdays and Sundays about every week or so.

About the outfit The K/DA Akali outfit is based on a videogame character called Akali from League of Legends
She is one of my favourites. This outfit is a tribute to her recent skin “K/DA”. A music video was released with Akali and 3 other girls who got matching skins- as a League fan I of course wanted to look like them.
VIOLENT SEDUCTION The painfully expensive – but worth it – Gacha shopping trip to the marketplace. The difficulty level of finding their items in the right colours was quite a job indeed, but with everything I have from them in this outfit, I’m very pleased about it as a finished look. The whole outfit is fairly low complexity and the mask is scripted to animate to the known K/DA look when you type. All in all, the auto-alpha in the pants is slightly “off” because if you look straight down at your butt, some of the alpha hides something the pants don’t. I also didn’t go for their jacket due to it being so difficult to obtain as all the items are gachas and either ridiculously expensive, compromises had to be made. I hope in the future I can buy some more VS items, perhaps for a bit cheaper. It’s understandable that with gachas the marketplace prices are high due to them being sold by individual users though.
THE SKIN MOD Oh yes, skin mods, the bane of every fucking outfit on Second Life. This particular skin was made by ::Ｌｏｃｋｅｄ:: (senumiko), under the name Illusion of Proxy. The skin-mod applied well to both my body and head and the only problem I had was personally the whiteness of her hands. Overall it works to the original Akali concept and is high quality in way where you can look at it without cringing even without using filters.
